Kid's Craft: Spring Chick

My nieces came to visit over the weekend and I wanted to have something fun for them to do. They are crafty like me so I decided to create a project they could make and take home with them.

Supplies: pink, yellow, white, green, and orange felt; burlap-covered canvas; craft glue, chick and letter templates to trace; and googley eyes. All of my supplies came from Michael's.

I found this Spring Chick template on the Silhouette Online Store site (on sale through April 20!!!). I was going to make it myself at some point but it was perfect for the girls' project.

First, I created templates for the chick and egg by using the Silhouette to cut them out of cardstock.

Spring Door Hangers

I was looking through a weekly ad and saw Spring door hangers. I thought it would be fun to make one (or two) myself.

I hit the wood cut-out section at Michael's. I chose a large wooden plaque in two designs, coordinating laser-cut pieces, and wooden initials. Then I grabbed a roll of jute ribbon.

First, I painted the pieces. I used my favorite aqua color, a pale pink, and Springy yellow. I used black for the initials.

One Kings Lane Inspired Bluebirds

When I was browsing through Michael's I came across these adorable little wooden birds. I didn't really have a plan for them but I knew I needed them. Then, as I was browsing through the One Kings Lane website I came across these bird figurines. BINGO!!!

This simple project only required a few materials:

Mint and Black Chevron

I have been saying for a while now that I'm ready for Spring. I'm pretty sure this dress is evidence of that. When I saw it I fell in love with it. The chevron... the minty color... the shape... and the adorable tie closure at the back of the neck.
