Rit Dye Watercolor Note Cards

Did you know you could use Rit Dye as watercolor paint? The idea came to mind as I was looking through Pinterest and saw some beautiful watercolor paintings.

I went to Michael's to pick up some watercolor paper and, on the way to the register, I saw a variety of Thank You note cards. The paper looked similar to the watercolor paper so I grabbed them to experiment with.

I mixed Petal Pink Rit Dye with varying amounts of water in three jars. Using a soft bristle brush I painted washes of color across the cards.

I love the ombre effect it gave the cards. It took a $1.50 pack of cards and turned them into one-of-a-kind pieces of art.

  5. These are fantastic! First, I am tickled pink to know that there is someone else out there who checks out the card selection while in line at Michaels (I do the same at Winners). You sure did dress them up well. I am a bit of a paper junkie and letter loving galt hat I just had to pin this. Visiting you via "HitMeWithYourBestShot" linkup
