DIY Paper Flowers

I recently bought a template for a multi-layered flower. I didn't have any real plan for it, I just thought it would be fun to try. And I was right! This may be my new addiction.

To look at it, you would think it was very complicated to assemble. There are a few steps but the process is fast. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the pieces but it could be done by hand also.

I ungrouped the images of the template because I wanted the stamen pieces to be a contrasting color. I simply moved them to the side and formatted the flower pieces to fit a letter sized sheet of paper.

Once the pieces were cut, I sorted them by size. Then I curled each petal long-ways around my Pick Me Up tool. To assemble, I laid the largest flower down, put a dot of craft glue in the center, then laid the next size down flower on top and pressed. I rotated each flower so that the petals were alternating and not lining up exactly with the layer before it. I followed this process until all the flowers were glued in place.

For the stamen pieces, I grabbed the center and squished the rest up. I squished the very top piece tighter than the one before it. I glued the tight piece in the middle of the looser one then glued the whole thing into the center of the flower.

I think these flowers would be adorable attached to a headband or maybe attached to the strap of a purse. How would you use them?

    1. You could!!! The hardest part would be cutting them out without a machine...
