Burlap Initial Plaque

My sweet friends Cortny and Ben are getting married very soon. We recently held a bridal shower for Cortny and I immediately knew what I wanted to do for her as a gift. She is a fun, crafty, DIY lover so I knew she would appeciate what I made for them.

This was the FIRST project I made using my Silhouette Cameo! I bought the W template from the Silhouette Online Store and added Cortny and Ben's names. Then I loaded black adhesive-backed vinyl into my machine and let it do all the work.

Once it was cut, I carefully peeled the pieces off and applied them to a burlap canvas from Michael's. Since this was a relatively small project, I didn't use contact paper to tranfer the cut pieces but I would highly recommend that method!

I finished the project by hot gluing a piece of twine to the top as a hanger and tying a big black and white polka dot grosgrain ribbon bow to the twine (to hide the hook or nail it's hung with).

Cortny and Ben loved the gift! They sent me a picture of it hanging in their home. Warning: it's a little blurry.
